Winery WENZL-KAST

A BRIEF LOOK AT THE PAST:
At the beginning of the 1970s, the trained master tailor Wilhelm KAST decided to finally hang up his scissors to devote himself to his greatest passion, wine. This laid the foundation for the Wenzl-Kast winery. His daughter Ingrid WENZL-KAST followed this vocation and, in the early 1990s, was one of the first women in Burgenland to complete the master’s examination for viticulture and winemaking. In 2000, she and her husband Harald took over the family winery.

As a career changer, logistics specialist Harald WENZL quickly acquired the skills of a winemaker. With their visionary approaches and ongoing investments in the modernization of the winery, Ingrid and Harald put the winery on the road to success.
Meanwhile, their two children, Johannes and Kerstin WENZL, are firmly anchored in the structures of the winery in the third generation. Johannes is currently completing his training as a cellar master, Kerstin is studying international wine marketing. The siblings Johannes and Kerstin are actively supported by their partners Lisa and Markus. New ideas from young people, both in wine production and in marketing, are integrated into the existing structures.

OUR APPROACH TO VITICULTURE
According to the principle: experience wine diversity!, we have sometimes dedicated ourselves to traditional Austrian grape varieties such as Neuburger and Zweigelt. We also devote ourselves to exciting aroma varieties with the representatives of Gelber Muskateller and Traminer. It is precisely the discovery of each individual wine character that makes wine tasting an experience in itself.
The focus is on the grape - a careful treatment of nature and the vine allows us to process grapes of the highest quality year after year. It is important to us to preserve tradition and our origins and to develop the winery further by breaking new ground. Driven by our creativity and passion, we are always focused on reinterpreting traditional varieties. Let yourself be regularly surprised by our innovative wines.
